Do not yield to fear, for I am always near.

Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God.
I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation.
I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand.

       Isaiah 41:10       (Passion Translation)

The nearness of God and the faithfulness of God are important reminders in this chaotic and unnerving time. Not only is God not surprised by all of this, but in a way that we may never understand, he is present and active. If we follow him, as dearly loved children, we can reflect both His nearness and faithfulness in world around us. Some of that comes as we isolate to protect and some of it will come as we have opportunity to come near to those around us.

Of course, that nearness isn't in proximity or in hugs or in sharing a meal together. Instead, we come near by calling someone to chat or delivering groceries and pharmaceuticals or serving our community. At the same time, there will be some among us who need help at this time. These words remind all of us that we are not alone. That our God is faithful and we have many others on a similar journey.
